From Virgin to Electric

So a friend of mine wanted a green mohawk. He already had the hawk, he just needed the new growth trimmed off and the hawk relined. This can be seen in the image marked "Cut". Clipper guard #2 all over, #1 near nape to give a faded look.

Then, of course, he had completely virgin hair. So I had to be really careful with how I applied the bleach. Thankfully, I just finished the class on color and lightening! So being the good [[read, stubborn]] student I am, I applied my class techniques. I used a Vol.40 Ion brand Sensitive Scalp Cream developer with Kaleidecolors Blue since he had dark brown hair, and processed for 25 minutes. Light warm heat was used for 2 minutes [[placed aluminum foil over the hair to protect it from direct heat]]. Rinse, shampoo, condition.This resulted in a medium blonde, however the tips didn't process as long so they came out a little darker than the rest.

After deep conditioning and waiting the weekend, I applied a second round of bleach--again using Vol.40 Ion brand Sensitive Scalp Cream developer with Kaleidecolors Blue and processed for 20 minutes. Again, light warm heat was applied [[over aluminum foil over the hair to protect it from direct heat]] for 2 minutes. Rinse, shampoo. This resulted in a clean soft near-platinum blonde--just enough melanin left in the hair to still hold the color that would be put in after!!

The color!!! Using Manic Panic's semi-permanent Electric Lizard hair color, I processed his hair for 25 minutes--again using the foil and same heat settings applied earlier for 2 minutes.

When rinsing the color out of the hair, I used cold water to not only rinse, but also close the cuticle to prevent excess bleeding until water ran clear. Cold water shampoo, cold water condition. Blow dried using the 'cool' feature.
